Interestingly, the Lenovo Legion Y500 emerges as a unique blend, seemingly contradicting its heritage. Lenovo, usually synonymous with business-oriented devices, ventures boldly into gaming territory. The design artfully marries Lenovo’s classic black with touches of sophistication, thanks to the burnished brushed aluminum adorning the lid. Moreover, red accents subtly illuminate from beneath each key and speaker grill, injecting a vibrant life into the design.

Keyboard

Furthermore, the IdeaPad Y500’s keyboard significantly benefits from Lenovo’s esteemed AccuType keyboard. This chiclet-style keyboard garners our consistent admiration for its comfort and the fluidity of key movement. Adding a visual flair, each key radiates with a red glow, enhancing visibility in dim conditions and introducing an edgy aesthetic to the standard design. Despite the keyboard’s excellence, the touchpad’s performance momentarily gives reason for contemplation.

Mouse

Initially, the mouse exhibits sporadic tracking issues, with noticeable jittering when fingers glide across its surface. Although this problem doesn’t persist constantly and other functionalities like right and left clicking, along with gestures, operate flawlessly, it’s an aspect that captures attention.

Ultrabay

Lastly, a distinctive feature of the IdeaPad Y500 is the Ultrabay. This innovative drive bay accommodates one of four modular upgrades: a DVD drive, a secondary hard drive, a cooling fan, or, as highlighted in our review, an additional graphics card. Considering the laptop’s limited battery life, the option for a supplementary second battery would have been a welcome enhancement.
